What We Are About
My Story
Better With A Buckle - BWB was formed in 2021. The idea to make buckles was a result of attending my "first rodeo." My daughter was marrying a man from Wyoming and family and friends were invited to the Sheridan, Wyoming Rodeo.
Of course this was an opportunity to dress the part. I wanted to lean into the western spirit, but do something a little different.
I was shopping around and went to a vintage fair in my New York town, and came across a very ornate western belt. Rhinestones on a large white leather belt that snapped in the back. It was perfect!
I wore it on my way back to the house and on my way I caught a glimse of myself in a storefront window. Wow! I never knew how much a belt could impact an outfit; a simple white top and blue skirt. There you have it. Everything looks....
Better With A Buckle
Creativity
Creativity or curiosity. My pieces are driven by what I "trip" over. Whether nearly falling through the attic floor of an old antique shop looking for Victorian and horse hardware, or scavenging the oddest of specialty shops with mounds of boxes full of beads and pearls, I have discovered you never know what you might find. I also collect genuine vintage or "loved" belts to pair with my buckles.
Make a statement and feel great when you’re asked a ”that’s a great buckle!' remark from a passerby.
Vision
To create pieces that are relaxed with a touch of whimsy. Designs are created to call attention to unique elements or those with a story to tell. Maybe that's just a reflection of me, I loveto listen to a good story.
Quality
Every consideration is taken into account for a quality item that would make you proud of ownership.
Pieces vary from using organic elements to repurposed hardware. Due to the nature of repurposing, what might appear to be a flaw is actually the result of taking apart the original form and then adjusting it. Scars from the past are just a part of handcrafting and rescuing what otherwise might get lost, ignored, or abandoned. I want the best for every thing I use.

Buckles
Unique buckles are created using antique horse brasses or Victorian hardware on stainless steel bases. Selection includes a variety of shapes and themes dependent on availability of hardware. Theme horse brasses available upon request.
Every buckle is paired with a vintage or "loved" genuine leather belt. New belts are available by request.
